Part of the Professional Teacher professional development series.

Photoshop is a powerful application for modifying and creating images. Among other features, you can use Photoshop to adjust, modify, or even change the colors in an image. It’s a super common task!

We’ll look at various ways to adjust color, including the all-important white balance. While we do this, we’ll have some fun with variety of modification layers and work a bit with masks.

For example, let’s say you have a picture of people at an event. When you look at the image, all the whites seem a bit gray, the image has a yellow-ish tone, and those clothes all look like the wrong color. Photoshop to the rescue!

IMPORTANT: To participate in this workshop, you will need to have access to Photoshop 2019 or higher during the workshop. (Every public school teacher and student in New Mexico can have free access to Adobe Photoshop. See https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Create-New-Mexico-FAEA-CoP.pdf)

For those who are interested, we can stay on for up to an hour after the session to discuss additional specific techniques that interest you, such as cropping, whitening teeth, fixing image blemishes, re-coloring images, making text graphics, and sharpening images. Let’s have some fun!
